The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 8:30 a.m. this day, in Ballroom AB, Delta Fredericton, Fredericton, New Brunswick, the Chair, Andrew Telegdi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Helena Guergis, Rahim Jaffer, Bill Siksay, Andrew Telegdi and Lui Temelkovski.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian War Brides: Melynda Jarratt. New Brunswick Multicultural Council: George Maicher, Vice-President, Fredericton; Asma Regragui, First Vice-President, New Brunswick. University of New Brunswick: Kumud Deka, South Asian Student, Physics Department. Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick: Hollis Cole, President; Andrew McLeod, Ex-Director. New Brunswick Multicultural Council: Cyprien (Syp) Okana, Member, Board of Directors, Multicultural Association of the Greater Monction area.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study on Citizenship Issues.
 

Melynda Jarratt made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 9:09 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:15 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

George Maicher and Asma Regragui made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:01 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Kumud Deka made a statement and answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study of Recognition of the International Experience and Credentials of Immigrants.
 

Hollis Cole made a statement and, with Andrew McLeod, answered questions.

Cyprien (Syp) Okana made a statement and answered questions.
