The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 8:32 a.m. this day, in the Ballroom CD, Hilton Suites Airport Hotel, Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Chair, Andrew Telegdi, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. David A. Anderson, Roger Clavet, Inky Mark, Bill Siksay, Andrew Telegdi and Lui Temelkovski.

 

Acting Members present: Nina Grewal for Rahim Jaffer .

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Benjamin Dolin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: B'nai Brith Canada: David Matas, Lead Counsel; Alan Yusim. Ukrainian Professional and Business Federation of Canada: John S. Petryshyn, President. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 the Committee resumed its study on Citizenship Issues.
 

Panel I. Citizenship

David Matas and John S. Petryshyn made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:08 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, the Committee resumed its study of Recognition of the International Experience and Credentials of Immigrants.
 

Panel II. Foreign Credentials

Bob Silver, Karen Dunlop, Cathy Woodbeck and Mira Thow made statements and, with Faye Rosenberg-Cohen answered questions.

 

At 11:30 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:35 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Panel III. Foreign Credentials

Professor Vedanand made a statement and answered questions.

Monika Feist made a statement and, with Tayeb Méridji answered questions.

 

At 12:12 p.m., the Committee adjourned to later this day.
