Tuesday, March 24, 1998
The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met 3:36 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 705, La Promenade Building, the Vice-Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Rob Anders, Caroline Bennett, Bonnie Brown, Brenda Chamberlain, Jean Dubé, Albina Guarnieri, Dale Johnston, Bob Nault and Byron Wilfert.
Acting Members present: Yves Rocheleau for Stéphan Tremblay; Pat Martin for Libby Davies; Benoit Serré for Robert Nault from 3:36 to 3:55; Steve Mahoney for Larry McCormick.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Bill Young and Sandra Harder, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From Calgary Chamber of Commerce and Alberta Chamber of Commerce: Gerry Chipeur. From the National Automobile, Aerospace, Transportation & General Workers of Canada: Buzz Hargrove.
The Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-19, An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (Part 1) and the Corporations and Labour Unions Returns Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts. (See Minutes of Proceedings of Tuesday, March 24, 1998, Meeting No. 19).
Gerry Chipeur made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 3:46 o’clock p.m., Reg Alcock assumed the Chair.
At 4:12 o’clock p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 4:13 o’clock p.m., the sitting resumed.
Buss Hargrove made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 4:50 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
