The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, François Choquette, Megan Anissa Leslie, Laurin Liu, James Lunney, Michelle Rempel, Lawrence Toet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Earl Dreeshen for Robert Sopuck, Cheryl Gallant for Robert Sopuck, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay for Kirsty Duncan and François Pilon for Élaine Michaud.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee, in consultation with the Chair, order snacks for the Committee's meetings.

 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of invasive terrestrial species, the proposed budget in the amount of $ 27,700, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That, prior to conducting any other studies or business, the Committee first report to the House of Commons regarding its statutory review of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA);

That, upon reporting to the House of Commons regarding its statutory review of the CEAA, the Committee then begin a study to provide recommendations to the Minister of the Environment regarding the development of a National Conservation Plan, including:

- a consultation plan for the Committee; and

- the scope and structure of such a plan.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, October 19, 2011, the Committee resumed its statutory review of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 4:44 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:51 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
