The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Canada Border Services Agency requesting a response to recommendation 3 of the committee’s 34th report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 2, Custom Duties, from the Spring 2017 Reports of the Auditor General of Canada – Part 1, by 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Office of Infrastructure Canada requesting a response to recommendations 1 through 5 of the committee’s 51st report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 4, Replacing Montreal’s Champlain Bridge – Infrastructure Canada, of the 2018 Spring Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Indigenous Services Canada requesting a response to recommendations 1 and 2 of the committee’s 54th report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 5 Socio-economic Gaps on First Nations Reserves - Indigenous Services Canada, of the 2018 Spring Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Employment and Social Development Canada requesting a response to recommendations 5 and 7 of the committee’s 55th report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 6 Employment Training for Indigenous People - Employment and Social Development Canada, of the 2018 Spring Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Correctional Service Canada requesting a response to recommendations 1 and 3 of the committee’s 62nd report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 6 Community Supervision - Correctional Service Canada, of the 2018 Spring Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, by 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Canada Border Services Agency requesting a response to recommendation 4 of the committee’s 5th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Immigration Removals, by 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Canada Border Services Agency requesting a response to recommendations 1, 3 and 5 of the committee’s 12th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Respect in the Workplace, by 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Correctional Service Canada requesting a response to recommendations 4 and 6 of the committee’s 12th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Respect in the Workplace, by 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Department of National Defence for an update on the implementation of the strategy from recommendation 5 of the committee’s 14th report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 5, Canadian Army Reserve – National Defence, of the Spring 2016 Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Correctional Service regarding recommendation 8 of the committee’s 47th report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 5, Preparing Women Offenders for Release – Correctional Services Canada, of the 2017 Fall Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, requesting clarification on the impact of the passage of Bill C-83 on the use and restructuring of segregation cells, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That letters be sent to Public Services and Procurement Canada regarding recommendation 2 of the committee’s 58th report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Disposing of Government Surplus Goods and Equipment, of the 2018 Spring Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, requesting the status of the pilot project and its preliminary results and to the Canada Revenue Agency requesting the status and results of its portal, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the RCMP regarding recommendation 3 of the committee’s 58th report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 2 - Disposing of Government Surplus Goods and Equipment, of the 2018 Spring Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, asking if they have updated their data management system to ensure that approvals and justifications for disposal methods are recorded, and in what manner, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Correctional Services Canada regarding recommendation 2 of the committee’s 62nd report from the 42nd Parliament 1st Session, Report 6 – Community supervision – Correctional Services Canada, of the 2018 Fall Reports of the Auditor General of Canada, requesting an explanation of the differences in compliance, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Transport Canada regarding recommendation 2 of the committee’s 3rd report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Follow-up Audit on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, requesting clarification on how the department intends to verify that compliance status is documented in all cases following a violation and that the data is accurate, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Employment and Social Development Canada regarding recommendations 2 and 4 of the committee’s 6th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Student Financial Assistance, asking that they confirm whether the new indicator is consistent with the Office of the Auditor General’s recommendation and requesting the status of the assessment of the costs and benefits of mandatory training for borrowers and for those who are scheduled to begin repayment of their student loans, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Parks Canada regarding recommendation 2 of the committee’s 8th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Request for Government Response to the 66th Report 42nd Parliament, 1st Session, requesting an update on the validation and approval of the new criteria and designation process, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the RCMP regarding recommendations 2, 3 and 4 of the committee’s 9th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Request for Government Response to the 67th Report from the 42nd Parliament, 1st Session, requesting a progress report on firearms requalification and a progress report on firearms preventive maintenance by 30 April 2022 and a final report by 30 April 2023 and a final report on the progress made in improving its management of acquisition projects, including compliance with life-cycle requirements, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That letters be sent to the Canadian Border Services Agency, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Immigration and Refugee Board regarding recommendation 1 of the committee’s 10th from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Request for Government Response to the 69th Report 42nd Parliament, 1st Session, requesting an update on a flexible funding model, by 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That letters be sent to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Immigration and Refugee Board regarding recommendation 3 of the committee’s 10th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Request for Government Response to the 69th Report 42nd Parliament, 1st Session, requesting an update on the upgrade of the interface between IRCC and IRB to allow for near-real-time digital exchange of information and documents, by 30 September 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Immigration and Refugee Board regarding recommendation 5 of the committee’s 10th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Request for Government Response to the 69th Report 42nd Parliament, 1st Session, requesting an update on the objectives that have been met with respect to expediting protection decisions for eligible asylum claimants, including performance metrics, by, 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada regarding recommendation 1 of the committee’s 11th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Request for Government Response to the 70th Report 42nd Parliament, 1st Session, requesting an update on the 2020–2021 call answer rate, actions taken to improve the call answer rate, and the status of the pilot project on the impact of extended hours on the call answer rate, by 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That letters be sent to Veterans Affairs Canada and Employment and Social Development Canada regarding recommendation 3 of the committee’s 11th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Request for Government Response to the 70th Report 42nd Parliament, 1st Session, requesting an update on the inclusion of callers hanging up after being placed on hold in call centre performance metrics, by 13 May 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Correctional Service Canada regarding recommendations 2 and 7 of the committee’s 12th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Respect in the Workplace, requesting an update on the assessment of the creation of an ombudsman position and an explanation of what decision, if any, has been made and asking if the amendment to the Delegation of Authorities in the area of Human Resources Management has indeed been made, by 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat regarding recommendation 1 of the committee’s 16th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Oversight of Government of Canada Advertising, requesting clarification on managing the partisan risk of an advertising campaign, including the use of factors other than the dollar value of the campaign to trigger an external review by, 30 April 2022.

It was agreed, — That a letter be sent to Public Services and Procurement Canada regarding recommendation 3 of the committee’s 16th report from the 43rd Parliament 2nd Session, Oversight of Government of Canada Advertising, asking if all users have completed their training, by 30 April 2022.
