Motion

John Nater moved, — That John Ossowski and Paul Girard be summoned to appear before the committee on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in relation to the study on Report 1, ArriveCAN, of the 2024 Reports of the Auditor General of Canada.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Blake Desjarlais moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “Auditor General of Canada” the following: “; and that members be provided an estimate of the cost of this meeting.".

The question was put on the amendment of Blake Desjarlais and it was agreed to on the following recorded division:

Amendment

Iqra Khalid moved, — That the motion by amended by replacing the words “Thursday, May 16, 2024” by the following: “any sitting date from now until the end of this session”.

At 4:25 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

RULING BY THE CHAIR

The Chair ruled the amendment inadmissible as he deemed that a motion to send for persons should include a set date.

That John Ossowski and Paul Girard be summoned to appear before the committee on Thursday, May 16, 2024 in relation to the study on Report 1, ArriveCAN, of the 2024 Reports of the Auditor General of Canada; and that members be provided an estimate of the cost of this meeting.

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Motion

Blake Desjarlais moved, — That the Standing Committee on Public Accounts report to the House that the Member for Thunder Bay—Superior North has refused to testify before the committee on matters relating to Report 2, Housing in First Nations Communities, of the 2024 Reports 2 to 4 of the Auditor General of Canada and that the committee recommends that the House order the Member for Thunder Bay—Superior North to appear before the committee on a date and time to be determined by this committee.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Brenda Shanahan moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words “That the Standing Committee on Public Accounts”, the following: “request the Minister of Indigenous Services Canada appear before the committee regarding the Auditor General’s report on Housing in First Nations Communities, and that if the Minister does not confirm a date in which she intends to appear before May 23, 2024, that the committee”.

Debate arose thereon.
