The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in camera at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Moore, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ray Boughen, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Hon. Rob Moore, Blake Richards, Scott Simms and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Pierre Dionne Labelle for Matthew Dubé, Parm Gill for Jim Hillyer, Shelly Glover for Gordon Brown and Djaouida Sellah for Pierre Nantel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 4, 2012, the Committee resumed its study on the Canadian entertainment software industry.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "The Canadian Entertainment Software Industry".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a supplementary opinion from the New Democratic Party provided that it is no more than two (2) pages in length and submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, the Committee study Bill C-266, An Act to establish Pope John Paul II Day; and that from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. the Members hear from the sponsor of the bill, Wladyslaw Lizon and that from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. the Committee proceed to the clause-by-clause consideration of the bill.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure meet on Monday, April 29, 2013.

 

It was agreed, — That on Thursday, May 9, 2013, the Committee meet in camera, in an informal meeting, with the Education and Culture Committee from the Parliament of Finland.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Canadian Olympic Committee to update Members on how the two (2) organizations are working together to address common issues facing both our Paralympic and Olympic athletes prior to the 2014 Sochi Games.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Canada to brief Members on the Russian Federation's preparations for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games and that this meeting be televised if possible.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee undertake a study and invite relevant witnesses to testify on the status of sports broadcasting in Canada, with emphasis on how broadcasters deliver sporting events and how sports broadcasting may impact consumers, businesses and national identity.

 

At 4:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
