The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Moore, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ray Boughen, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Matthew Dubé, Jim Hillyer, Hon. Rob Moore, Blake Richards, Scott Simms and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Djaouida Sellah for Pierre Nantel.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marion Ménard, Researcher; Michael Dewing, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Swimming Canada: Pierre Lafontaine, Chief Executive Officer. Horizon School Division: Mikko Makela, Director of Hockey and Head Coach, Warner Hockey School. Saskatchewan Hockey Association: Clive Tolley, Provincial Regional Coach Mentor. Regina School Boards: Chuck Toth, Commissioner of Athletics, Regina High Schools Athletic Association.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on the status of amateur coaching in Canada.
 

Pierre Lafontaine and Mikko Makela made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:37 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Clive Tolley and Chuck Toth made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:24 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:25 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study on amateur coaching in Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $ 19,950 be adopted.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
