The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met in camera at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Garry Breitkreuz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Garry Breitkreuz, Don Davies, Shelly Glover, Mark Holland, Andrew Kania, Dave MacKenzie, Phil McColeman, Serge Ménard, Maria Mourani, Rick Norlock, Robert Oliphant and Brent Rathgeber.

 

Acting Members present: Robert Bouchard for Serge Ménard and Yves Lessard for Serge Ménard.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget for the federal corrections study in the amount of $32,950, for the 2009-2010 fiscal year be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the meetings in relation to the federal corrections study be televised whenever possible.

 

It was agreed, — That clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-34, an Act to amend the Criminal Code and other Acts, be on Thursday, November 3, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That travel to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Kingston, Ontario, Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Quebec and Dorchester, New Brunswick, be from November 15 to 20.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and Section 21.1 of the Sex Offender Information Registry Act, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Act.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

At 1:04 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
