The Standing Committee on Finance met in camera at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Brian Pallister, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Ablonczy, Dean Del Mastro, Rick Dykstra, Hon. John McCallum, Hon. John McKay, Brian Pallister, Thierry St-Cyr, Hon. Robert Thibault, Mike Wallace and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

 

Acting Members present: Paule Brunelle for Pierre A. Paquette and Hon. Jim Peterson for Massimo Pacetti.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Principal.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on Income trusts.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report dissenting and / or supplementary opinions from all Parties provided that they are translated, no more than 4 pages in length and submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 4:00 p.m., on Monday, February 26, 2007.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Finance undertake a study, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), of the fees charged by a) banks and their subsidiaries, b) other financial agents, and c) networks providing these financial organizations with communication services for electronic access to personal financial services to determine the appropriate means of regulating these charges in the interests of Canadians.

 

It was agreed, — That the “Committee” recommend that the Minister of Justice take actions necessary to include the offence commonly known as “Identity Theft” in the Criminal Code and that this be reported to the House.

 

At 12:43 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
