The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 9:45 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Andy Scott, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Reg Alcock, Michel Bellehumeur, Carolyn Bennett, Chuck Cadman, Paul DeVillers, Ivan Grose, John Maloney, Peter Mancini, John McKay, John Reynolds, Jacques Saada and Andy Scott.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marilyn Pilon, Researcher; Philip Rosen, Senior Analyst.
Witness: From the House of Commons: Chuck Strahl, MP for Fraser Valley.
The Order of Reference dated Tuesday, March 21, 2000, being now read as follows:
ORDERED, -- That Bill C-244, An Act to provide for the taking of samples of blood for the benefit of persons administering and enforcing the law and good Samaritans and to amend the Criminal Code be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.
The Chair called Clause 1.
The witness made an opening statement and answered questions.
John Reynolds moved, - That, pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), Mr. John Reid, Access to Information Commissioner, be invited to appear before Committee to consider the Main Estimates of the Office of the Access to Information Commissioner.
The question being put on the motion, it was agreed to.
At 10:36 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
