Pursuant to the order of reference of Monday, May 16, 2022, the committee resumed its study of the Canada–People’s Republic of China relations.

Jeremy Youde and Jonathan Manthorpe made statements and answered questions.

It was agreed, — That the opening remarks prepared by Mr. Clive Hamilton be deemed to have been read, be translated and distributed in the two official languages, and that question addressed to Mr. Hamilton be answered in writing, translated and distributed in the two official languages to the members of the committee.

At 7:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:40 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Stephen Nagy and Alex Neve made statements and answered questions.

At 8:40 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:45 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the upcoming study of the matter of the exposure of Canadian investment funds to Chinese equities and bonds linked to human rights violations, members of the committee submit their lists of suggested witnesses to the clerk of the committee no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022.

At 9:35 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
