The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a video recorded session at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Leon Benoit, Blaine Calkins, Joe Daniel, Anne-Marie Day, Royal Galipeau, Claude Gravelle, François Lapointe, David J. McGuinty, Kennedy Stewart and Brad Trost.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Jean-François Pagé, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: Mark Corey, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Sector; Douglas Heath, Director, Oil Sand and Energy Security Division, Energy Sector; Michael Rau, Senior Policy Advisor to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Sector. Canadian Petroleum Products Institute: Peter Boag, President; Carol Montreuil, Vice-President. As an individual: Hossam A. Gabbar, Associate Professor, University of Ontario Institute of Technology.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on December 14, 2011, the Committee commenced its study on the current and future state of oil and gas pipelines and refining capacity in Canada.
 

Mark Corey, Peter Boag and Hossam A. Gabbar made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That in relation to the study of current and future state of oil and gas pipelines and refining capacity in Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $18,750 be adopted .

 

At 10:43 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
