The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 8:50 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Alex Atamanenko, Pierre Lemieux, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Blake Richards, Merv Tweed, Frank Valeriote and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Calandra for Randy Hoback, Earl Dreeshen for Randy Hoback, Pierre-Luc Dusseault for Ruth Ellen Brosseau and Bev Shipley for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Pulse Canada: Gordon Bacon, Chief Executive Officer. Quorum Corporation: Mark Hemmes, President. Canadian Federation of Agriculture: Humphrey Banack, Second Vice-President. Canadian Fertilizer Institute: Roger L. Larson, President; Robert Godfrey, Senior Manager Policy.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of agricultural and agri-food products supply chain (grains and oilseeds).
 

Mark Hemmes and Gordon Bacon made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:49 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Humphrey Banack, Roger L. Larson and Robert Godfrey made statements.

 

At 10:03 a.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 10:11 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
