The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Claude Guimond, Hon. Geoff Regan, Devinder Shory and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Cheryl Gallant for Russ Hiebert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Greenpeace Canada: Shawn-Patrick Stensil, Energy and Climate Campaigner. Mouvement Vert Mauricie Inc.: Michel Fugère, Representative, Energy matters. Organization of CANDU Industries : Neil Alexander, President. Power Workers' Union: Don MacKinnon, President. SNC-Lavalin Nuclear Inc.: Patrick Lamarre, President and Chief Executive Officer. Université Laval: Michel Duguay, Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on October 7, 2009, the Committee resumed its study on the state of the nuclear industry in Canada and abroad.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:12 p.m. Alan Tonks took the Chair.

 

At 5:14 p.m. Leon Benoit took the Chair.

 

At 5:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:30 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee adopt its draft budget of $39,800 for its study of the state of the nuclear industry in Canada and abroad.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
