The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 9:04 a.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Gerry Ritz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Alex Atamanenko, André Bellavance, James Bezan, Ken Boshcoff, Claude DeBellefeuille, Hon. Wayne Easter, Jacques Gourde, Gary Merasty, Larry Miller, Gerry Ritz and Paul Steckle.

 

Associate Members present: Barry Devolin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

 

Witnesses: Dairy Processors Association of Canada: Don Jarvis, President - CEO; Yves Leroux, Vice President, Regulatory and Government Affairs, Parmalat; Kempton L. Matte, Senior Vice-President, Industry, Government, Producers Relations, Saputo; Pierre Nadeau, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Conseil des industriels laitiers du Québec. Dairy Farmers of Ontario: Bruce Saunders, Chair. Dairy Farmers of Canada: Richard Doyle, Executive Director; Jacques Laforge, President. Fédération des producteurs de lait du Québec: Guylaine Gosselin, Director general.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Imports of Milk Protein Concentrates.
 

The witnesses from the Dairy Processors Association of Canada made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:07 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:12 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

The witnesses from the Dairy Farmers of Canada, the Dairy Farmers of Ontario and the Fédération des producteurs de lait du Québec made statements and answered questions.

 

At 11:08 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
