The Standing Committee on Industry, Natural Resources, Science and Technology met at 4:31 p.m. this day, in Room 701 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Michael Chong, Hon. Denis Coderre, Paul Crête, Brian Masse, Hon. Jerry Pickard, Andy Savoy, Werner Schmidt, Brent St. Denis and Bradley R. Trost.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Andrew Kitching, Analyst ; Dan Shaw, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Council of the Blind: Gordon Hope, Member and Program Coordinator; Dennis Finucan, Director, Ontario Division, Board of Directors. Canadian Marketing Association: John Gustavson, President and Chief Executive Officer; Barbara Winters-Robins, Vice-President, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, Reader's Digest Association (Canada) Ltd; Wally Hill, Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications. Imagine Canada: Peter Broder, Corporate Counsel and Director, Regulatory Affairs; Robbin Tourangeau, Vice-President, Public Policy and Government Relations.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, February 7, 2005, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-37, An Act to amend the Telecommunications Act.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted by the Committee on October 19, 2004, the Chair be authorized to continue receiving evidence when reduced quorum to present and publish evidence is not present.

Gordon Hope, John Gustavson and Peter Broder made statements.

At 4:52 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
