MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 8

Thursday, March 20, 2003

The Special Committee on the Modernization and Improvement of the Procedures of the House of Commons met in camera at 8:14 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Bob Kilger, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Hon. Don Boudria, Libby Davies, Monique Guay, Loyola Hearn, Stan Keyes, Bob Kilger and John Reynolds.

In attendance: From the House of Commons: Diane Diotte, Procedural Clerk. From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Analyst.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the House of Commons on Thursday, November 28, 2002, the Committee resumed consideration of its study of the modernization and improvement of the procedures of the House of Commons (See Minutes of Proceedings of Thursday, December 5, 2002).

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of its future business.

It was agreed, - That the proposed budget in the amount of $155,610.36 for the Committee’s travel to London, England, from May 18 to May 23, 2003 be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Board of Internal Economy for approval.

It was agreed, - That the Committee meet from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2003.

At 8:35 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
