Thursday, February 20, 2003
The Special Committee on the Modernization and Improvement of the Procedures of the House of Commons met in camera at 8:09 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Bob Kilger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: The Hon. Don Boudria, Michel Gauthier, Monique Guay, Loyola Hearn, Stan Keyes, Bob Kilger, Dick Proctor, John Reynolds and Werner Schmidt.
Acting Members present: Libby Davies for Bill Blaikie.
In attendance: From the House of Commons: Diane Diotte, Procedural Clerk. From the Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Analyst.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the House of Commons on
Thursday, November 28, 2002, the Committee resumed consideration of its study
of the modernization and improvement of the procedures of the House of Commons
(See Minutes of Proceedings of Thursday, December 5, 2002).
The Committee considered a draft report on Private Members’ Business.
It was agreed, - That the draft report (as amended) be adopted and that the Chair present the report to the House.
It was agreed, - That the Committee travel to Canberra and Sydney (Australia) the week of March 2, 2003.
It was agreed, - That the budget adopted on December 5, 2002 be adjusted by the Chair in order to reflect changes in destinations.
It was agreed, - That the Committee present a motion to the House
authorizing the necessary staff to accompany the Committee when travelling to
Australia.
At 8:28 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
