Meeting No. 5

Wednesday, February 5, 2003

The Subcommittee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.

Members of the Subcommittee present: Sébastien Gagnon, John Godfrey and Alan Tonks.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Julie Cool, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples: Deborah Wright, Consultant. From the National Association of Friendship Centres: Judith Moses, Executive Director; Rick Lobzun, President, Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres. From the "Regroupement des centres d'amitié autochtones du Québec inc.": Jocelyne Gros-Louis, Director General and Secretary Treasurer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(1)(b) and 108(2), the Subcommittee resumed its study on aboriginal children from 0 to 6 years living off reserve.

Deborah Wright, Judith Moses, Rick Lobzun and Jocelyne Gros-Louis made opening statements and answered questions.

At 5:08 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
