The Subcommittee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, John Godfrey, presiding.
Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Libby Davies, John Godfrey, Larry Spencer and Diane St-Jacques.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Tonina Simeone, Research Officer.
Appearing: From the House of Commons: The Hon. Ethel Blondin-Andrew, Secretary of State (Children and Youth).
Witness(es): From the Department of Health: Susan Fletcher, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch; Heather McCormack, Senior Policy Analyst, Research, Coordination and Special Projects Division, First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. From the Department of Human Resources Development: Kenneth Kerr, Senior Director, Aboriginal Relations Office. From the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development: Louise Deschênes, Acting Director General, Social Policy and Programs Branch.
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), status review of the government response to the Committee report on: "Building on Success" and study on aboriginal children from 0 to 6 years living in urban areas.
Hon. Ethel Blondin-Andrew made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.
At 4:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
