MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 2

Tuesday, April 3, 2001

The Budget Sub-Committee of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:32 p.m. this day, in Room 139-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Bonnie Brown, Wayne Easter, Bill Graham, Clifford Lincoln, David Pratt, Susan Whelan, John Williams.

Other Members present: Mac Harb, Charles Hubbard.

In attendance: From the Committees and Parliamentary Associations Directorate: Luc Fortin, Deputy Principal Clerk.

Consideration of budget submissions in accordance with Standing Order 107(1).

It was agreed, - That the Sub-committee on International Trade, Trade Disputes and Investment of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade be granted a budget of $112,238 to travel to London, Dublin, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, and Geneva, from April 22 to May 5, 2001, for its study of Canada's economic relations with Europe.

It was agreed, - That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted a budget of $200,000 to travel to Norway and Scotland, during the Fall 2001, for its study of Aquaculture.

It was agreed, - That the Standing Committee on Health be granted an operational budget in the amount of $37,900.00 for the budget period of April 1st, 2001 to June 30, 2001 (fiscal year 2001-2002), conditional to the approval by the Committee of a budget submission to the same amount by the end of the week of April 2.

It was agreed, - That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted an additional budget of $7,000 to travel to Shelburne County, NS / Halifax, NS / St. Alban's and Baie d'Espoir, Nfld / Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec / Charlottetown, PEI and Moncton, NB, from May 5 to 11, 2001, for its review of the Oceans Act, Studies on Aquaculture, Canadian Coast Guard fleet management and departmental structure in the Gulf Region.

It was agreed, - That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a budget of $9,100 to travel to Quebec City, on April 20-21, 2001, for meetings with Members of the United States House of Representatives Agriculture Committee.

At 2:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
