Meeting No. 30

Tuesday, November 27, 2001

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 4:10 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jim Abbott, Paul Bonwick, Sarmite Bulte, Rodger Cuzner, Claude Duplain, Christiane Gagnon, John Harvard, Clifford Lincoln, Grant McNally and Dennis Mills.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson, researcher; Alan Cofman, intern.

Appearing: The Honourable Sheila Copps, Minister of Canadian Heritage.

Witnesses: From the Department of Canadian Heritage: Yazmine Laroche, Assistant Deputy Minister, Portfolio and Corporate Affairs; Bruce Manion, Director General, Financial Management; Alan Latourelle, Chief Administrative Officer, Parks Canada.

The Order of Reference dated Thursday, November 1st, 2001, relating to the Supplementary Estimates (A) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2002, being read as follows:

ORDERED, - That VOTES 1a, 5a, 15a, 20a, 45a, 50a, 55a, 65a, 70a, 75a, 85a, 90a, 100a and 125a under CANADIAN HERITAGE and VOTES 30a and 35a under PRIVY COUNCIL be referred to the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage.

The Chair called Vote 1a,

The Minister, with Yazmine Laroche, Bruce Manion and Alan Latourelle, answered questions.

At 4:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
