The Standing Committee on Finance met at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel at 12:45 p.m., the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Albina Guarnieri, Rahim Jaffer, Shawn Murphy, Lorne Nystrom.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marc-André Pigeon, Researcher; Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.
Witnesses: From the Cement Association of Canada - Halifax Chapter: Bill E. Dooley, Vice President; Ted Hounslow, Sales Manager, Atlantic Region, Lafarge Corporation; Alicje Cornelissen, Director, Environment and Building Sciences. From the Dartmouth Literacy Network's Board of Director: Calinda Brown. From the Federation of New Brunswick Faculty Associations: Prof. Claude Dionne, President; Prof. Hans Vanderleest; Desmond A. Morley, Executive Director.
Pursuant to Standing Order 83.1, the Committee continued its study on Pre-Budget Consultations.
Prof. Claude Dionne, Prof. Hans Vanderleest, Desmond Morley, Calinda Brown and Bill Dooley made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
At 2:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
