The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 1:08 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Ken Epp, Sophia Leung, Yvan Loubier, John McCallum.
Acting Members present: Joseph Volpe for Sue Barnes, Paddy Torsney for Carolyn Bennett, David Price for Roy Cullen, David Pratt for Nick Discepolla, Larry Bagnell for Albina Guarnieri, Paul Macklin for Shawn Murphy, Tony Tirabassi for Gary Pillitteri, Cheryl Gallant for Rahim Jaffer, Leon Benoit for Jason Kenney, Peter Stoffer for Lorne Nystrom.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Marc-André Pigeon, Researcher; Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.
Appearing: From the Department of National Defence: Art Eggleton, Minister of National Defence, Minister responsible for Emergency Preparedness Canada (EPC).
Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Lt-Gen George E.C. Macdonald, Vice Chief of the Defence Staff; R.M. (Bob) Emond, Assitant Deputy Minister, Finance and Corporate Services.

The Minister made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.
