The Standing Committee on Industry met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Acting Chair, Ian Murray, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Antoine Dubé and Ian Murray.

Acting Members present: Grant Hill for Charlie Penson; Guy St-Julien for John Cannis.

Other Member present: Odina Desrochers.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Geoffrey Kieley, Research Officer.

Appearing: The Hon. Martin Cauchon, Secretary of State, (Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec).

Witnesses: From Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec: André Gladu, Deputy Minister; Jocelyn Jacques, Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations; Jean-Guy Saint-Martin, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategy and Liaison; Pierre Bordeleau, Director General, Resources Management.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House dated February 29, 2000, Main Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2001 - Votes under INDUSTRY; and Performance Report - Industry Canada for the period ending March 31, 1999.

The Hon. Martin Cauchon made a statement and answered questions.
