The Standing Committee on Natural Resources and Government Operations met at 11:05 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 269, West Block, the Chair, Brent St. Denis, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Réginald Bélair, Gilles Bernier, David Chatters, Roy Cullen, Pierre de Savoye, Yvon Godin, Ovid L. Jackson, Jerry Pickard, Ben Serré, Darrel Stinson and Brent St. Denis.

Substitute Members present: Ken Epp for Jim Gouk.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Research Officer.

Witnesses: From the Solar Energy Society of Canada Inc. (SESCI): Tim Egan, Board of Directors; Mike Noble, Enerworks; Dr. Steven Harrison, Professor, Mechanical Engineering, Queen’s University; Ian Carter, Vice-President, Newsun Technologies. From the Canadian Wind Energy Association: Dr. Jim Salmon, President. From Iogen Corporation: Jeff Passmore, Executive Vice-President, Renewable Energy.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of knowledge and technology based industries in the Natural Resources Sector.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 12:55 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
