MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
(Meeting No. 14)

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1997

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:35 o’clock p.m., this day, in room 371 of the West Block, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Robert Bertrand, Hec Clouthier, Art Hanger, Judi Longfield, Pat O’Brien, John O’Reilly, David Pratt, Dick Proctor, George Proud, John Richardson, Pierrette Venne and Bob Wood.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Department of National Defence: Lieutenant General R.R. Crabbe, Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a Review of the Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces.

John O’Reilly moved, - That the Committee adopt the budget of $246,964.00 for its travels inside Canada and to Bosnia in relation to its study on Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces.

After debate, the motion was allowed to stand.

Lieutenant General R.R. Crabbe made an opening statement.

At 4:00 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
