MINUTES OF PROCEEDING
Tuesday, November 4, 1997
The Standing Committee on Finance met in televised session at 12:45 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Mark Assad, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roger Gallaway, Jim Jones, Yvan Loubier, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman, Gerry Ritz, Paul Szabo and Paddy Torsney.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Richard Domingue, Research Officer.
Witnesses: From the Federation of Canadian Municipalities: Jae Eadie, President; Gilles Vaillancourt, Chairman, Finance Committee. From the Coalition to Renew Canada’s Infrastructure: John D. Redfern, chairman. From the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors: Duane Mather, President; Colin MacDonald, Counsel, Howard, Mackie; Don M. Herring, Managing Director. From the Canadian Construction Association: Michael Atkinson, President; John Devries, Vice-President. From the Ontario Professional Fire Fighters Association: Rick Miller, Chair, Pension Committee. From the Canadian Police Association: Dale Kinnear, Labour Analyst. From the International Association of Fire Fighters: Sean McManus, Canadian Director.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, The Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultation Study. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Wednesday, October 15, 1997, Meeting No. 3).
The witnesses participating in the Round Table made statements and answered questions.
At 2:11 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
