Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the subcommittee on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the subcommittee resumed its study of Current Situation in Tigray.

Kidane Gebremariam, Feben Embaye-Dessta, Gugsa Tekle Werknen and Alemash Tekie Berhone made statements and answered questions.

At 7:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 7:56 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:09 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That the statement on the Situation in Tigray, as amended, be approved.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the subcommittee on Monday, February 7, 2022, the subcommittee resumed its study of the Current Human Rights Situation in Iran.

It was agreed, — That the committee issue a statement on the situation in Iran, and that any edits to the text be sent to the Chair by June 22, 2022, for final approval.

The subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to subcommittee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $3,850.00, for the study of Current Situation in Tigray, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $8,250.00, for the study of Current Human Rights Situation in Iran, be adopted.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the subcommittee on Monday, February 14, 2022, the subcommittee resumed its study of Human Rights in Repressive States: The Situation of Human Rights Defenders, Journalists and Media Organizations.

The subcommittee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 8:45 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
