Pursuant to the order of reference of Thursday, September 19, 2024, the committee resumed its study of the factors leading to the recent fires in Jasper National Park.

Christian Messier, Kristopher Liivam, Mike Flannigan and Elizabeth Potter made statements and answered questions.

At 11:02 a.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 11:11 a.m., the meeting resumed.

At 12:22 p.m., the meeting was suspended.

At 12:28 p.m., the meeting resumed.

Adam van Koeverden gave notice of the following motion:

That this committee undertake a pre-study on Bill C-73, An Act respecting transparency and accountability in relation to certain commitments Canada has made under the Convention on Biological Diversity.

To this end, the Committee hold a minimum of eight meetings:

  1. Invite the Minister of the Environment and Environment and Climate Change Canada officials
  2. That the last two meetings be dedicated to clause-by-clause consideration
  3. That this study begin within 10 days of the adoption of this motion

Questioning of the witnesses resumed.

At 1:23 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
