Pursuant to the order of reference of Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Monday, June 1, 2020, the committee resumed its study of the Investment Canada Act.

Mitch Davies, Dominic Rochon and Tim Hahlweg made statements and answered questions.

At 4:13 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Motion

Nathaniel Erskine-Smith moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology invite senior representatives from Loblaw Companies Ltd., Metro Inc. and Empire Company Ltd. to explain their decisions to cancel, on the same day, the modest increase in wages for front-line grocery store workers during the pandemic, including how those decisions are consistent with competition laws.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Brian Masse moved, — That the motion be amended by adding after the words "Empire Company Ltd." the following: "and other witnesses".
