Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee resumed consideration of the Main Estimates 2019-20: Vote 1 under Office of the Auditor General, referred to the Committee on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Pursuant to the motion adopted on Thursday, May 30, 2019, the Committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by David Christopherson on Thursday, May 30, 2019, which reads as follows:

That the Committee condem the underfunding of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG); that the Committee recommend that funding to the OAG be increased by $10.8 million annually; and that the Committee report this recommendation to the House.

At 9:29 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:34 a.m., the sitting resumed.

The debate continued.

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That a letter be drafted on behalf of the Committee by the Vice-Chairs and the Opposition critic to be sent to the Minister of Finance concerning the funding of the Office of the Auditor General;

That, if there is consensus on the content of the letter to the Minister, the Committee will commence study of draft reports on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, and invite the Auditor General and the Deputy Minister of Finance to appear before the Committee on Thursday, June 13, 2019, to discuss and answer to the Committee’s concerns as expressed in the letter of Tuesday, June 11, 2019; and

That, if there is no consensus on the content of the letter, the Committee resume consideration of the motion moved by David Christopherson on Thursday, May, 30, 2019, and that he be allowed to continue speaking to the motion.

At 10:07 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:09 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, the Committee commenced its study of the legacy of the Committee.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
