The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in a televised session at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Christopherson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Malcolm Allen, John Carmichael, David Christopherson, Ted Falk, Alain Giguère, Bryan Hayes and Yvonne Jones.

 

Acting Members present: Wai Young for Jay Aspin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Édison Roy-César, Analyst; Alex Smith, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Michael Ferguson, Auditor General of Canada; Vicki Plant, Principal. Canada Revenue Agency: Ted Gallivan, Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Compliance Programs Branch; Lisa Anawati, Director General, International and Large Business Directorate, Compliance Programs Branch. Department of Finance: Brian Ernewein, General Director, Tax Policy Branch; Alexandra MacLean, Director, Tax Legislation, Tax Policy Branch.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That film footage of the Committee's public proceedings may be used in a television program being produced by the Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and to be aired on their Parliamentary Channel, to showcase the work of Parliamentary Scrutiny Committees.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee would meet on Monday, January 26, 2015, to study a draft report.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, May 12, 2014, the Committee commenced consideration of Chapter 3, Aggressive Tax Planning, of the Spring 2014 Report of the Auditor General of Canada, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
 

Michael Ferguson and Ted Gallivan made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
