Meeting No. 30

Monday, June 2, 2014

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts met in camera at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, David Christopherson, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Malcolm Allen, Jay Aspin, John Carmichael, David Christopherson, Ted Falk, Alain Giguère, Bryan Hayes and Stephen Woodworth.

Acting Members present: David J. McGuinty for Yvonne Jones.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Daniel Benatuil, Analyst ; Alex Smith, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, December 2, 2013, the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 7, Oversight of Rail Safety — Transport Canada, of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 3:56 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Chapter 7, Oversight of Rail Safety — Transport Canada, of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee prepare and issue a press release following the presentation of the report to the House.

At 4:18 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:42 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(g) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, April 7, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Chapter 8, Disaster Relief for Producers — Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Chapter 8, Disaster Relief for Producers — Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, of the Fall 2013 Report of the Auditor General of Canada".

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

It was agreed on division, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.
