The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Joyce Bateman, Hon. Scott Brison, Hon. Ron Cannan, Nathan Cullen, Pierre Dionne Labelle, James Rajotte, Andrew Saxton and Dave Van Kesteren.

Acting Members present: Guy Caron for Raymond Côté.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mark Mahabir, Analyst.

Witnesses: Bank of Canada: Stephen S. Poloz, Governor; Carolyn Wilkins, Senior Deputy Governor. Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Parliamentary Budget Officer; Mostafa Askari, Assistant Parliamentary Budget Officer, Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer; Chris Matier, Senior Director, Economic and Fiscal Analysis and Forecasting, Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer; Scott Cameron, Economic Advisor, Analyst, Economic and Fiscal Analysis, Office of the Parliamentary Budget Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the Report of the Bank of Canada on Monetary Policy.

Stephen S. Poloz made a statement and, with Carolyn Wilkins, answered questions.

At 10:11 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:16 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 24, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of economic and fiscal outlook.

Jean-Denis Fréchette made a statement and, with Mostafa Askari, Chris Matier and Scott Cameron, answered questions.

At 11:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
