The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Tilson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Jay Aspin, Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe, Jim Eglinski, Chungsen Leung, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. John McCallum, Costas Menegakis, Devinder Shory and David Tilson.

 

Acting Members present: Charlie Angus for Jasbir Sandhu.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Béchard, Analyst; Sandra Elgersma, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Chris Gregory, Director, Identity Management & Information Sharing; Brenna MacNeil, Senior Director, Strategic Policy and Planning; Bruce Grundison, Executive Director, Strategic Projects Office. As an individual: Richard Kurland, Lawyer and Policy Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, the Committee commenced its study of subject matter of clauses 168 to 176 (Division 15 of Part 3) of Bill C-59, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 21, 2015 and other measures.
 

Chris Gregory and Brenna MacNeil made statements and, with Bruce Grundison, answered questions.

 

At 9:46 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:49 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Richard Kurland made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 10:23 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
