The Vice-Chair presented the Seventh Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure. The report was concurred in and read as follows:
Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, February 5, 2015, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:
1. That the Committee undertake a study on ways of promoting economic integration through settlement services over the course of no more than seven (7) meetings, in order to:
a) ensure that immigrants and refugees are able to use their skills and experience to secure employment and reach their full potential;
b) assess activities of settlement services across Canada and abroad as well as employment councils, and report its findings to the House.
2. That the report be entitled “Promoting Economic Prosperity through Settlement Services”.
3. That the Committee hold a total of seven (7) meetings on this study, starting on Thursday, February 19, 2015, which are to be divided as follows:
• Departmental officials from CIC for the first two (2) hours at the beginning of the study;
• Six (6) meetings to hear from witnesses.
4. That the total number of witnesses be divided among the recognized parties according to their standings in the House of Commons: twenty (20) for the Government (Conservative Party), twelve (12) for the Official Opposition (New Democratic Party) and four (4) for the other opposition party (Liberal Party).
5. That the meetings be divided into two (2) one-hour panels, and that each panel consist of no more than three (3) groups or individuals per hour.
6. That members submit their prioritized witness list including their contact information to the Clerk by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015.
7. That the Committee recognizes that any Estimates or bills referred to the Committee will take precedence in scheduling over this study.
