The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met in a televised session at 8:30 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Olivia Chow, Hon. Denis Coderre, Ed Holder, Isabelle Morin, Jamie Nicholls, Pierre Poilievre, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet, Merv Tweed and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Guy Caron for Olivia Chow, Jacques Gourde for Blake Richards and Kevin Lamoureux for Hon. Denis Coderre.

 

Other Members present: André Bellavance, Yvon Godin, Pat Martin and Ève Péclet.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst. House of Commons: Chad Mariage, Procedural Clerk.

 

Witnesses: Department of Transport: Kristine Burr, Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy, Policy Group; Brigita Gravitis-Beck, Director General, Air Policy. Department of Justice: Pierre Legault, Assistant Deputy Minister, Business and Regulatory Law Portfolio. Air Canada: Calin Rovinescu, President and Chief Executive Officer; Louise-Hélène Sénécal, Assistant General Counsel, Law Branch; Duncan Dee, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer; Joseph Galimberti, Director, Government Relations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, the Committee commenced its study on the closure of Aveos Fleet Performance Inc..
 

Calin Rovinescu made a statement and, with Louise-Hélène Sénécal, answered questions.

 

At 9:29 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:34 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Kristine Burr made a statement and, with Pierre Legault, answered questions.

 

Jamie Nicholls moved, — That the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities issue a summons for the appearance of Joe Kolshak, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aveos Fleet Performance Inc., to appear before the Committee on Tuesday April 3, 2012, in relation to the study on the closure of Aveos Fleet Performance Inc..

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division: YEAS: Guy Caron, Kevin Lamoureux, Isabelle Morin, Jamie Nicholls, Mike Sullivan — 5; NAYS: Mark Adler, Jacques Gourde, Ed Holder, Pierre Poilievre, Lawrence Toet, Jeff Watson — 6.

 

At 10:28 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
