The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Olivia Chow, Hon. Denis Coderre, Isabelle Morin, Jamie Nicholls, Pierre Poilievre, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet, Merv Tweed and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: Rod Bruinooge for Lawrence Toet, Brad Butt for Blake Richards and Rob Clarke for Mark Adler.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties: Carolyn Kolebaba, Vice-President. Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities: David Marit, President. Canadian Taxpayers Federation: Gregory Thomas, Federal and Ontario Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 26, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the National Public Transit Strategy.
 

Carolyn Kolebaba and David Marit made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:28 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Gregory Thomas made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Denis Coderre moved, — That, in relation to the illegal strike of the Lester B. Pearson International Airport Security Screening Staff, on October 7, 2011, the Committee invite representatives from the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), from Garda and representatives of their union.

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 6.

 

At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
