The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a televised session at 12:03 p.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Omar Alghabra, Mike Allen, David Anderson, Catherine Bell, Leon Benoit, Ken Boshcoff, Claude DeBellefeuille, Richard Harris, Christian Ouellet, Lloyd St. Amand, Alan Tonks and Bradley R. Trost.

Acting Members present: Bernard Bigras for Claude DeBellefeuille, Bernard Bigras for Christian Ouellet and Hon. Geoff Regan for Omar Alghabra.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Fréderic Beauregard-Tellier, Analyst ; Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst.

Appearing: Hon. Gary Lunn, Minister of Natural Resources.

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: Cassie J. Doyle, Deputy Minister; Jim Farrell, Assistant Deputy Minister, Canadian Forest Service; Margaret McCuaig-Johnston, Assistant Deputy Minister, Energy Technology and Programs Sector; Richard Tobin, Assistant Deputy Minister.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced / resumed consideration of the Main Estimates 2008-2009: Vote 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 under Department of NATURAL RESOURCES referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 28, 2008.

The Hon Gary Lunn made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 1:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:05 p.m., the sitting resumed.

The Committee resumed the questioning of the witnesses.

At 1:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
