The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Sue Barnes, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Roy Cullen, Jason Kenney, Yvan Loubier, Maria Minna, Shawn Murphy, Gary Pillitteri, Bryon Wilfert.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: June Dewetering, Acting Principal, Blayne Haggart and Marc-André Pigeon, Research Officers.
Witnesses: From the Association of Canadian Airport Duty Free Operators: Kathy Kendall, The Nuance Group (Canada); Jacques Dagenais, Aer-Rianta Canada; Remo Mancini, Canadian Transit Company. From the "Produits Ronald Inc.": Jean Messier, President & CEO; Jean Lalanne, Agri-Food Consultant. From the Canadian Cancer Society: Rob Cunningham, Senior Policy Analyst.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference of Tuesday, April 9, 2002, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-47, An Act respecting the taxation of spirits, wine and tobacco and the treatment of ships' stores (See Minutes of Proceedings, Thursday, April 11, 2002, Meeting No. 86).
The witnesses made statements and answered questions.
It was agreed, --That the document entitled “Compilation of selected evidence regarding the impact of higher tobacco prices on tobacco use” presented by the Canadian Cancer Society be filed as an Exhibit with the Clerk of the Committee. (Exhibit “A”)
At 4:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
