TUESDAY, MARCH 31, 1998

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:37 o’clock p.m., this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Robert Bertrand, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Robert Bertrand, Art Hanger, Pat O’Brien, David Pratt, George Proud, John Richardson, Pierrette Venne and Bob Wood.

Other Members present: Ghislain Lebel.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament
: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Treasury Board Secretariat: Tony Rizzotto, Acting Director, Executive and Excluded Groups Compensation; Alain Jolicoeur, Chief Human Resources Officer; and Fernand R. Lamarche, Human Resources Executive, Labour Relations and Human Resources Management Division.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of a Review of the Social and Economic Challenges Facing Members of the Canadian Forces – Compensation and Benefits.


Alain Jolicoeur made an opening statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:15 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
