The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met in camera at 11:02 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Gary Goodyear, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Yvon Godin, Gary Goodyear, Michel Guimond, Hon. Jay Hill, Hon. Marlene Jennings, Tom Lukiwski, Hon. Stephen Owen, Pauline Picard, Joe Preston, Marcel Proulx, Hon. Karen Redman and Scott Reid.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows:

1. That, at its next meeting, the Committee discuss future committee business and a draft report regarding the guidelines for broadcasting of committtees;

2. That briefing material regarding election matters and security on the Hill be prepared for distribution to members of the Committee;

3. That the Chief Electoral Officer be invited to appear on Thursday, April 27, 2006 to discuss general issues regarding the election of Members; and

4. That the Acting Sergeant-at-Arms be invited to discuss security on the Hill at an in camera meeting.

 

It was agreed, — That the report of the Subcommittee be concurred in.

 

It was agreed, — That the Acting Sergeant-at-Arms be invited to appear on Thursday, May 4, 2006, in relation to the parliamentary precincts.

 

Pursuant to order made earlier today and to S.O. 119.1(2) and S.O. 108(3)(a)(v), the Committee commenced consideration of a draft report on broadcasting of committees.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to S.O. 91.1(1), the Subcommittee on Private Members' Business be composed of : Joe Preston, Scott Reid, Derek Lee, Pauline Picard and Jean Crowder.

 

At 11:26 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:27 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 
The Committee resumed the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 11:29 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
