Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Friday, October 28, 2022, the committee resumed its study on the conditions faced by asylum-seekers.

Frantz André, Abdulla Daoud, Pierre-Luc Bouchard and Eva-Gazelle Rududura made statements and answered questions.

At 4:49 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:56 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Maureen Silcoff, Perla Abou-Jaoudé, Vincent Desbiens and Stephan Reichhold made statements and answered questions.

At 5:41 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:45 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $4,600, for the study on the government's response to the final report of the Special Committee on Afghanistan, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $16,850, for the study of persons with temporary status and regularization programs for undocumented individuals, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to the Order of Reference of the House of Commons dated November 17, 2022, regarding the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year 2022-23, the committee requests that (a) the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship to appear for one hour on Tuesday, November 29, 2022; and (b) Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada officials appear for one hour on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of application backlogs and processing times, the proposed budget in the amount of $174,554.03, for the committee’s travel to Abu Dhabi and Dakar in winter 2023, be adopted.

At 6:08 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
