Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, June 7, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of electoral reform.

Richard Johnston, Darrell Bricker and Gordon F. Gibson made statements and answered questions.

At 4:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:40 p.m. , the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That Mr. Scott Reid’s motion and the document to which it pertains be referred to the next Sub-committee meeting that will discuss this matter immediately after the question of witnesses to be heard while the Committee is travelling across Canada.

It was agreed, — That the Committee proceed to sit in public.

At 5:40 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

Motion

Nathan Cullen moved, — That the Committee confirm, publish and announce its visit to Iqaluit as soon as possible; and that full translation services in Inuktitut be provided to the public during its hearings.

Amendment

Scott Reid moved, — That the motion be amended by adding the words "and in Inuinnaqtun" after the word “Inuktitut”.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 11; NAYS: 0.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That the Committee confirm, publish and announce its visit to Iqaluit as soon as possible; and that full translation services in Inuktitut and in Inuinnaqtun be provided to the public during its hearings.

At 5:50 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
