The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 11:09 a.m. this day, in Room 268, The Valour Building, the Chair, Rodney Weston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Robert Chisholm, Ryan Cleary, Patricia Davidson, François Lapointe, Ryan Leef, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Robert Sopuck, John Weston and Rodney Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Mark Strahl for Randy Kamp.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Thai Nguyen, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Sportfishing Industry Association: Mike Melnik, Managing Director. As an individual: Bruce Tufts, Professor and Fisheries Biologist, Freshwater Fisheries Conservation Lab, Queen's University. Thames River Anglers Association: Robert Huber, President. Alberta Fish and Game Association: Darryl R. Smith, Provincial Fish Chair.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 3, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of recreational fishing in Canada.
 

Mike Melnik, by videoconference from Markham, Ontario, and Bruce Tufts, by videoconference from Kingston, Ontario, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:09 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:11 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Robert Huber, by videoconference from London, Ontario, and Darryl R. Smith, by videoconference from Grande-Prairie, Alberta, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:39, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay took the Chair.

 

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
