The Standing Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 8:30 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. Michael D. Chong, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Tyrone Benskin, Ray Boughen, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Pierre Dionne Labelle, Yvon Godin, Jacques Gourde, Élaine Michaud, Bernard Trottier and John Williamson.

 

Acting Members present: Ron Cannan for John Weston, Corneliu Chisu for Costas Menegakis and Hon. Stéphane Dion for Hon. Mauril Bélanger.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lucie Lecomte, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

 

Witnesses: Department of Canadian Heritage: Daniel Jean, Deputy Minister; Hubert Lussier, Assistant Deputy Minister, Citizenship and Heritage Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(f) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on the evaluation of the Roadmap: improving programs and service delivery.
 

Hon. James Moore made a statement and, with Hubert Lussier and Daniel Jean, answered questions.

 

At 9:31 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:35 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Jacques Gourde moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Ray Boughen, Ron Cannan, Corneliu Chisu, Jacques Gourde, Bernard Trottier, John Williamson — 6; NAYS: Tyrone Benskin, Stéphane Dion, Pierre Dionne Labelle, Yvon Godin, Élaine Michaud — 5.

 

At 9:38 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:39 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

At 10:08 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
