    Honourable members of the committee,

[English]

I see a quorum.

[Translation]

I must inform members that the clerk of the committee can only receive motions for the election of the chair. The clerk cannot receive other types of motions, entertain points of order or participate in debate.

[English]

We can now proceed to the election of the chair. Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the chair must be a member of the government party. I am ready to receive motions for the chair.
    Go ahead, Madame Quach.

[Translation]

[English]

It has been moved by Madame Quach that Mr. Warawa be elected chair of the committee.
Are there any further motions? I see none.
Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Mr. Warawa duly elected chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
The Clerk: Before inviting the chair to take his place, if the committee wishes, we will now proceed to the election of the vice-chairs.

[Translation]

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the first vice-chair must be a member of the official opposition.
I am now ready to receive motions for the election of first vice-chair.
    I nominate Ms. Leslie.
It has been moved by Ms. Rempel that Ms. Leslie be elected first vice-chair of the committee.
    Are there any further motions?
    (Motion agreed to)

The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Ms. Leslie duly elected first vice-chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
The Clerk: Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the second vice-chair must be a member of an opposition party other than the official opposition.
I am now prepared to receive a motion for the second vice-chair.

[Translation]

    Go ahead, Mr. Choquette.
    I nominate Kirsty Duncan.
It has been moved by Mr. Choquette that Ms. Duncan be elected second vice-chair of the committee.

[English]

Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    (Motion agreed to)
The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Ms. Duncan duly elected second vice-chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
The Chair: I now invite Mr. Warawa to take the chair.
Thank you so much, colleagues. That was a squeaker.
    You campaigned all summer.
    Some hon. members: Oh, oh!
    I did campaign all summer.
Thank you to Marie-France and the support staff. It's good to be back and ready to get back to work.
Thank you for the cookies and the coffee and the juice. It's nice to be back to have that too.
Colleagues, are there any other issues that we need to discuss?
Monsieur Choquette had given notice on motions to invite some people. We can deal with that at our next meeting, or, if I have unanimous consent, we could deal with that now, if Mr. Choquette wanted to deal with it now.

[Translation]

We will do that at the next meeting.

[English]

It will be for the next meeting.
It will be at the next meeting. Very good.
Seeing no other issues, we will accept a motion to adjourn and we'll move in camera for the steering committee.
Do I have a motion to adjourn?
    An hon. member: Yes.
The Chair: It is so moved.
    (Motion agreed to)
    [Proceedings continue in camera]
