The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in a televised session at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Tilson, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rick Dykstra, Alain Giguère, Sadia Groguhé, Roxanne James, Kevin Lamoureux, Chungsen Leung, Costas Menegakis, Ted Opitz, Jinny Jogindera Sims, Rathika Sitsabaiesan, David Tilson and John Weston.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Béchard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Defence Research and Development Canada: Pierre Meunier, Portfolio Manager, Surveillance, Intelligence and Interdiction, Centre for Security Science. NextgenID Canada Inc.: Robert L. Bell, Senior Vice-President , Corporate and Business Development; IIan Arnon, Vice-President, Technology Solutions. Canadian Security Intelligence Service: Richard B. Fadden, Director; Tom Venner, Executive Director General, Security Screening Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, December 8, 2011, the Committee resumed its study "Standing on Guard for Thee: Ensuring that Canada's Immigration System is Secure".
 

Pierre Meunier and Robert L. Bell made statements and, with IIan Arnon, answered questions.

 

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:33 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

Richard B. Fadden made a statement and, with Tom Venner, answered questions.

 

At 5:33 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 5:46 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
